Editorial Standards

Our editorial goal is to publish material that is useful even when a reader never clicks an affiliate link, buys a product or arrives from a search engine. We want each guide to solve a real reader problem, explain a decision clearly or provide a practical framework that adds value beyond a summary of other sources.

Sources and verification

We prefer primary and authoritative sources for factual claims: official product documentation, standards bodies, government or regulator guidance, developer documentation, institutional research and first-party service documentation. Independent sources may provide context, but they do not replace primary evidence when a specification, policy or rule can be checked directly.

Time-sensitive details such as prices, product availability, software capabilities and platform rules should be treated as changeable. Publication and update dates help readers judge the age of the information.

Original value comes before word count

Longer is not automatically better. A page should contribute a useful decision framework, practical checklist, compatibility analysis, calculation, implementation sequence, failure-mode discussion, example or other insight that helps the reader do something with the information. We are actively consolidating older launch content that overlaps too heavily with stronger guides.

Research and hands-on testing are different

A buying guide or specification comparison is not a hands-on review. We do not claim to have physically tested, owned or used a product unless that actually happened and the article explains the relevant test context. Research-based guides should identify what can be established from documentation and what remains uncertain without real-world testing.

AI-assisted work

AI tools may assist with outlining, research organization, drafting alternatives, formatting or summarizing notes. That assistance does not make a claim accurate and does not replace editorial judgment. Our standard is that AI-assisted material must be reviewed, fact-checked where needed and revised so it contributes clear reader value rather than simply generating more pages.

We do not want automation to produce interchangeable articles at scale. When an older page overlaps with a stronger resource, our preferred action is to improve, combine or retire it rather than keep unnecessary pages live.

Commercial relationships

Affiliate links and sponsored placements are commercial relationships, not evidence that a recommendation is better. Paid or affiliate links should be disclosed and appropriately marked. Our affiliate disclosure explains how these relationships are handled.

Corrections and updates

If you find a factual error, send the article URL and supporting information through our contact form. Material corrections should be reflected in the article. We also revise or retire pages when a product is replaced, documentation changes, a stronger explanation becomes available or an older page no longer contributes enough unique value.
